NaCl project page1 of 2

Salt has a cubic molecular structure....The two week workshop was an opportunity for Iberaki prefecture town planners and people living in the area to give thought about the patterns of change happening around them. Research uncovered an interesting fact; in the Edo period (17th century) the export of salt had provided the main economic commodity.

Hitachinaka was now involved in becoming one of the largest of Japan’s sea ports. On the huge concrete quay piled high like crystals, were rectangular storage containers. The architectural structure NaCl is two adjoined spaces. The reflection in the polished floors creates the whole of each symbolic molecule.NaCl was over 9m high and over 32m circumference.
